i could be wrong...but thats a at least an 03 Silverado. wasn't the sr-71s last flight in about 98? the article linked says the picture was taken while still in service.

You're leaking on the runway.

From The Aviationist:
It was taken years ago, when the SR-71 was still in service and shows a Blackbird taxing behind a Chevy car (a follow me, more than a standard “ chase car ” like those supporting the U-2 Dragon Lady and the RQ-4 Global Hawk ).
I've done some searching, but can't find any more info about the picture. Wikipedia said that the SR-71, AF Ser. No. 61-7972, went on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center in VA on December 15, 2003. Perhaps this photo is associated with that.

i didn't consider that it could be just moving a display plane.

Race? Nah, I don't think so.

Well, it should have a lot more "pickup" now!

Would love to see "Powered by HABU" on the front fenders.

Since there is no direct messaging on Kinja I will post this here. Do you have a G+ account? I have some pics you might get a kick out of from a facility near Tucson that I got to visit today.

I don't. While I do have a Gmail account, which I use sparingly and to log on to Oppo, I have assiduously avoided social media. I do have Dropbox, but I'm not really sure how it all works. I only use it to transfer files to my iPhone. But I'd love to see your photos, if we can figure something out. I'd be glad to share an email @.

Cool. Us taking pictures was never fully vetted out so I didn't want to post them for everyone. Was a neat place to visit.

I enjoyed these pics very much thanks. Why so many pictures of Delta jets? ;-) All those 757s lined up reminded me of this article I read recently. You might find it interesting, it talks about what Boeing might do with its next clean sheet.
This picture of the Albatrosses was my favorite. Many, many years ago, my older brother built a model of a USCG Albatross, and I was fascinated by how the landing gear folded up. It's always been one of my favorites. I took the liberty of throwing a little crop on it. I hope you don't mind. I think it's a really strong photograph. Thanks again for sharing.
